Tip: Switch the docs locale via the language selector in the site header (URL prefix changes accordingly). Thunderbird’s UI language is independent of the website language and follows your Thunderbird settings.

Landing page redirect

  • If the site is built with your browser’s preferred locale, visiting the base docs URL under the project’s baseUrl automatically redirects to that locale. Use the language switcher (or /en/) to stay in English.

Contribute Translations​

  • Found an issue in a translation? Please open a GitHub issue or PR.
  • Prefer edits against the English source under website/docs/; the maintainer’s tooling propagates updates to other locales.
    English is the source of truth for documentation; translation updates are pulled from EN during the maintainer’s workflow.
  • These strings live in website/i18n/en/code.json and are translated to all locales via the maintainer task:
    • make translate_web_index (requires OPENAI_API_KEY)
    • Limit languages with OPTS="--locales de,fr"; overwrite existing values with OPTS="--force".

Website vs. UI​

  • Website language and add‑on UI language are independent; the language selector changes docs only. Thunderbird’s UI language follows your Thunderbird settings.
